All the Fun of the Fair

We like to showcase original and local creations at Norfolk Makers’ Festival and for 2020 we have a fairground modelled out of stained glass!

Artists from Alby Stained Glass, in Bawdeswell, have created this unique exhibit, complete with moving dodgems and a working carousel.

One of the creators, Julie Kirkham, took inspiration from her childhood memories of the Christmas and Easter fairs on the old Cattle Market site in Norwich.

Those who remember Norwich in the sixties will enjoy the historic details in the models.

Angie Partis, Mick Franks and Sandra Stevens helped Julie to push the boundaries of 3D stained glass creation.

You can watch the artists at work in The Forum as they make more pieces to add to their fairground replica.

Julie and Angie are running evening flat foil workshops for beginners, who would like to have a go at learning the basics. Take your glass creation home with you.
